Long time I left this blog. Because I focused on other works that gain my profit than writing anything. 2 years ago, I focused on writing Thai articles and do business that related with local people. Until Thailand’s economy crashed severely.
In Thailand, media said “ปีนี้เผาจริง”. If you translate these sentences directly, you will know “This year really.” But the real meaning is “Economy is utterly crashed.”
When I open Threads, the brand new social media by Instagram that is X’s equivalent, algorithm thinks I am interested in Thailand topic posts, so my feed is filled with many posts with “Thailand” keywords. I already read about them, and there were interesting insights I could find.
Today bad news about foreign tourists making trouble in Thailand is more frequent. That’s so bad. Recent news about Israelis travelers said about their money they paid to Thai local people to make their lives better. They didn’t respect Thai culture such as taking off shoes, etc.
As Thai people, the economic crash this year was very severe and very hard to survive. I cannot take profits from the business with Thai people ever. Using only Thai language isn’t good behavior to do. Investors withdraw their businesses from Thailand until this country has only traveling business to earn money.
But I think this is a new chapter of my life.
Foreigners love Thailand, but Thais want to move to other countries.
That is ironic. The big reason is, finding jobs in Thailand with your degree is very hard at this time. Some jobs, such as graphic designer, do more than “graphic design” jobs. I also encountered this situation. 10 years ago when I worked as a graphic design employee, my jobs were more than graphic design jobs, such as IT security, installing Windows OS, setting CRM systems, and carrying computers to sales offices around the Sukhumvit area. But my wage was $600/month.
Yes, $600/month.
That was 10 years ago, online site hustles weren’t in the mainstream. The problems of my life in my 20s were using only the Thai language. Meanwhile, my friend who was a sales agent that used English to sell condominium’s rooms with foreign customers got more wages than me, but I couldn’t feel envious. Until I moved to work at a condominium sales office in Thonglor, that was my turning point. I couldn’t go back to the past again.
Meeting real estate customers who came from other countries was blowing my mind. They were Chinese or Singaporean who love to curate assets around the world. Their mindset thought about collecting, gaining profits, seeing dynamic cash flows. They indirectly taught me about money and asset management. That wasn’t only hard work, but using assets to make money.
The world needs someone who does as society desires. But I see contrasts in Thailand.
Thai High skill laborers want to move to other countries. A big reason is the wage in Thailand is insufficient as their skill value and life costs in Bangkok. Meanwhile, foreign digital nomads, expats also love Bangkok, Thailand because of other reasons than cheaper cost. But they also get money consistently from their wages as remote working jobs. Finding local jobs in Bangkok isn’t good.
Because gaining profits with Thais is harder and harder. No one spends money for unnecessary things at this time.
Why do I go back to my blog?
The reason is, I need to journal somewhere, but writing on my personal blog is my favourite hobby to do. New generation people love to record the video from their phones and say anything. But I was born from the age of writing blogs in the 2000s. Writing is my hard skill.
